Carrollton High to crown 2025 homecoming queen Sept. 26
Five seniors vie for title ahead of Carrollton-Marlington football game; dance follows Sept. 27.

Carrollton High School’s crowning of the 2025 homecoming queen will be held Friday, Sept. 26, beginning at 6:30 p.m. prior to the Carrollton-Marlington football game.
The queen, selected from five candidates, will be crowned by the 2024 reigning royalty, Kaelyn Stewart.
A homecoming dance will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, in the high school gym with the theme “Sunset Stampede.”
Following are biographies of the five queen candidates:
Railey Macke, daughter of Adam and Wendy Macke, is a member of Youth to Youth, concert band, president of the marching band and Chamber Chorus at Carrollton High School. She is the current president of the National Honor Society and an active member of the CHS drama department. She has been involved in multiple productions, most recently as Scuttle in "The Little Mermaid," and is a student director for the middle school productions. Railey also is a member of the Carrollton track and field team and mentors elementary students. In the community, she is an active participant in Mount Pleasant Methodist Church and youth program and is a member of 4-H. Upon graduation, Railey plans to attend Ohio State University and major in biology.
Lily Marteney, daughter of Jason and Tara Marteney, is the senior class president, a member of the National Honor Society, CHS Student Council, danceline for the marching band, plays the saxophone in the concert band and sings in the Chamber Chorus. She also is a member of Youth to Youth and a mentor for elementary students. Lily has danced competitively at Misty Karlen’s Dance Studio for 12 years. She is an active member at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church and a member of The Beef Club for 4-H. In the future, Lily plans to become a small-animal veterinarian and attend Ohio University or John Carroll University for her undergraduate degree.
Isabella Nuzzolillo, daughter of Alzana and Ron Nuzzolillo, is the captain of the CHS soccer team and will compete in the spring in the 4x1 relay for CHS track and field. This relay team currently holds the school record and qualified for state last year. Isabella also participates in the marching band and Chamber Chorus. She belongs to a variety of organizations at CHS, including the National Honor Society, Student Council and Youth to Youth, and mentors elementary students at CES. She is also a member of the CHS drama department and most recently starred in "The Little Mermaid" as Flounder. In the future, Isabella plans to attend Kent State University and major in elementary education.
Emma Shafer, daughter of Stephanie Roudebush and Darrell Shafer, is a student-athlete who has competed in volleyball, basketball and track for four years. Last season, as a member of the basketball team, Emma and her teammates reached the “elite eight” for the first time in school history. She also was a member of the 4x1 relay team that qualified for state last year. Emma is a two-year member of the CHS broadcasting team and belongs to many organizations at CHS, including CHS Club, the National Honor Society, Youth to Youth and Student Council. In the future, Emma plans to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field.
Haley Thomas, daughter of Melanie and Shane Thomas, is a four-year member and captain of the CHS volleyball team. Haley has competed on the CHS track and field team and has been a member of the yearbook staff for three years, serving two years as editor. She also belongs to multiple clubs and organizations at CHS, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, CHS Club, FFA, the National Honor Society, prom committee, Spanish Club, Student Council and Youth to Youth. Haley is a post-secondary student who plans to attend Hondros College and become a real estate agent.
