Carroll County Foundation announces grant awards totaling $105,500
The grant supports the food pantry, libraries and senior programs
The following grants were made at the Feb. 12 Carroll County Foundation Board of Governors quarterly meeting.
Akron-Canton Regional Food Bank
$6,000 to support the Carroll County Pop-Up Food Pantry, which operates on the first Wednesday of each month at the Church of Christ in Carrollton. Approximately 4,000 pounds of food are distributed each month.
Minerva Public Library
$1,750 to assist the library in creating a collection of original framed artwork by local artists, which may then be checked out by library cardholders for a limited period of time.
Carroll County Council on Aging
$20,000 to assist with the purchase and installation of new commercial kitchen appliances at the Friendship Center to be used in connection with its on-site dining program for seniors age 60 and older, as well as in its Carroll County Meals on Wheels program.
Carroll County District Library
$20,000 to assist the library with its local newspaper digitization project. The grant will help fund Phase Two of the library’s digitization of local newspapers, including issues of The Free Press Standard from 1946 to 1991. Access to the newspapers will be available online through the library’s website.
National Inventors Hall of Fame
$5,000 to provide scholarships for Camp Invention, a STEM learning program this summer at Minerva Elementary for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The scholarships will be targeted to low-income students who reside in Carroll County.
The next deadline to apply for a grant is May 1. To apply, visit www.ccfoh.org and select “Apply for a Grant” from the menu for a grant application, additional information on grant-making policies and guidelines for discretionary funds.
