TuscBDD to host free advocacy event in January
Attendees will hear from speakers Jordyn Zimmerman and the Chris Nikic Team
The Tuscarawas County Board of Developmental Disabilities will host The Power of Perspective, a free public event, Jan. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Kent State University Performing Arts Center.
The event will highlight skills and ideas that promote advocacy for people with developmental disabilities.
“It is important for everyone to understand the diverse community around them,” TuscBDD Superintendent Nate Kamban said.
Attendees will hear from speakers Jordyn Zimmerman and the Chris Nikic Team, two self-advocates who will share their experiences and insights on perspective and inclusion.
“I had the opportunity to hear Jordyn speak and hear Chris’ story, and their messages impacted me deeply,” Kamban said. “I want more people in our community to experience that feeling and walk away empowered.”
A free pasta bar and garden salad lunch will be provided. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP using the link below.
