The Ghost Sisters paranormal investigators visit the area

What happens when you can investigate a paranormal investigation going on live in your area?

The other night I was sitting at home minding my own business while scrolling through Facebook.

Usually, you can’t get into too much trouble doing that, but a friend had shared a live video of a paranormal investigation that was going on nearby.

And not just by any paranormal investigators, this was on the Ghost Sisters Facebook page. I had never heard of them, but I checked out their page and they have 152,000 followers. I was impressed.

Anyway, I continued to watch, intrigued because I have never seen anything strange in that area. But that doesn’t mean anything because they were finding all kinds of stuff with their ghost hunting equipment.

Quite a few years ago, I did an article on a group of teenagers conducting paranormal investigations at some Tuscarawas County cemeteries. They had some startling findings.

It was close to midnight when I decided to go see if I could get an interview with them, because why not. They were very nice and I filled them in on a little history too.

The Ghost Sisters are all from the Marion, Ohio area. They are biological sisters, Mandi Cummings, Chasity Leonard and Bobbie Jo Metzger. Although, Cummings admits that Metzger is the skeptic of the group.

“She's the skeptic/kind of a believer. She’s skeptical, but she believes because she's heard things and seen things, but she still questions,” Cummings said.

Their fame began when they were featured on the Ghost Brothers: Lights Out television show on season two, episode “The Shank” because of video they had captured.

For the Feb. 15-16 investigation, Mandi Cummings and her ghost friend - but not sister - Christy Edler, were doing the work. If you want to see them in action, they are on lots of social media including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and Reinbow. Look for their investigation in New Philadelphia.

Cummings started the Ghost Sisters team in 2017, when she was still working in law enforcement, a job she did for eight years. She is also a medium and has worked doing mediumship work for 10 years.

“One day I went and investigated the Mansfield (Ohio State Reformatory) prison. I was working in law enforcement, and I told my sister, you're going with me,” Cummings said. “And we captured the guard, Frank, walking down in solitary on my GoPro. A week after we did that investigation, I called up my sister. I said, hey, I'm starting up a team, and you're joining me.”

The team uses equipment that detects electromagnetic fields known as REM Pods (Radiating Electromagnetic Field Pods) and K2 EMF meters. These devices can indicate electromagnetic field changes, temperature changes, and help facilitate spirit communication. Lights will come on marking some of the changes.

We discussed their findings on the privately owned historical building they were investigating.

“When we first started filming, lights were popping off left and right,” Cummings said. “We were detecting activity in the electromagnetic fields, and that's like static electricity energy, and there's no electricity in the school. We put our phones on airplane mode, and our stuff was just going nuts.”

“I mean everything, all the equipment was going off,” Edler said.

They seemed to mostly pick up on negative energy and spirits who met a terrible ending in life. The owners of the property, who picked up the bad vibes, asked the Ghost Sisters to investigate. The Ghost Sisters often find out about places to investigate from their followers, and they encourage anyone in need of their services to contact them.

The Ghost Sisters have investigated locations all around the United States including Hollywood, but so far there are no locations that they would not visit again.

“People ask me that a lot. There's not a spot that I'll say, so far, that I would never go back into. Because if I'm going to say that, then there's a reason. It must be really active, or the stuff going on must be really hateful and nasty. I would go back, because I've been in a lot of scary places, especially in Tennessee,” Cummings said.

Edler agreed with that comment, so it’s good to know there are scarier places than Ohio.

I interview a lot of people, and I always respect others’ views. I’m not going to tell you what to believe but, cue the Twilight Zone music here – the Ghost Sisters’ findings and my stories and history matched up.

The past may be a little closer than we think.
