Ruritan club discusses scholarships, trailer repairs and quilt fundraiser
Longtime club member Russell Dean presented the quilt he made and is donating to the club for a fundraiser
The Tusky Valley Ruritan Club met Tuesday, March 17, for its monthly dinner meeting at the Trojan Center in the administration building of the Tusky Valley School District in Zoarville. Thirteen members and one guest attended. The meal was catered by Kathy’s Cookies, Candies & Catering and included lasagna, salad, bread and butter, and strawberry dessert. Drinks were water and iced tea.
The club’s scholarship committee met and decided to give five $1,000 scholarships this year. The recipients and their parents will be invited to attend next month’s meeting to receive the awards.
The club discussed repairs on the Ruritan trailer being done by club member Jim Downing. Once the inside renovation is done, the trailer will be painted and relettered.
Longtime club member Russell Dean presented the quilt he made and is donating to the club for a fundraiser at the Strawberry Festival. Over the years, Dean has made five quilts for the club to sell at the Atwood Fall Festival, and this one will be the sixth quilt he has done to raffle at the Strawberry Festival. Each quilt involves about 200 hours to complete. The club has raffle tickets available for sale from now until the Strawberry Festival for $1 each or six for $5.
The next club meeting will be April 21 at 6 p.m. at the Trojan Center.
