Gather your friends and make Valentine’s Day plans to attend the United Way of Tuscarawas County’s Power of the Purse fundraiser Saturday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon at The Delaware in New Philadelphia, 112 Fair Ave. NE.
The event will include a purse raffle featuring designer handbags, Balloonatik Bingo, mimosas, brunch and more.
Designer purses in a variety of styles will be paired with extra prizes from local businesses and raffled during the event. Designers include Kate Spade, Tory Burch, Steve Madden, Patricia Nash, Sam & Hadley and Aldo. Additional prizes were donated by local businesses including The Bibliophile, Dola Jean’s, the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas, the Little Theatre, Ohio Star Theater, Park Street Pizza, Quaker Cinema, the Reeves Museum, Solace Relaxation Massage-Float Spa & Esthetics, Texas Roadhouse and the Tuscarawas Philharmonic.
Attendees will be entertained by local legend The Balloonatik, who will lead bingo during the event. Anyone who wins bingo will receive an extra purse raffle ticket.
Each event ticket includes one mimosa, and attendees can choose a flavor from options including orange juice, cranberry juice, white cranberry juice, pineapple juice or apple juice. The Delaware also will offer a brunch menu that day for an additional cost, not included with the event ticket. The menu will include smoked salmon eggs Benedict, biscuits and gravy, potato pancake Benedict and hazelnut French toast.
Tickets are $50 and include one purse raffle ticket, one bingo card and one mimosa or mocktail. Attendees can purchase extra purse raffle tickets for $25 each and bingo cards for $10 each for additional chances to win. Event tickets are available for purchase online at tuscunitedway.org/events. Purse raffle tickets also will be available for purchase online beginning in February for those who want a chance to win but cannot attend in person. Winners will be drawn at the event but do not need to be present to win.
“This fundraiser began as a virtual event back in 2020, but this year we’re revamping it as an in-person event for added fun,” said Hannah Hartman, United Way community engagement and events manager. “By partnering with The Delaware and The Balloonatik, we’re hoping to offer a really fun morning where women can spend time with their girlfriends enjoying bingo and brunch with the possibility of winning a designer handbag and other great prizes from local businesses.”
Proceeds will benefit the United Way of Tuscarawas County and the local programs it supports.
