Motorcyclist killed in Tuscarawas County crash
The motorcycle was operated by Jack Lineberry, 63, of New Philadelphia
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a one-vehicle crash that killed a New Philadelphia man on state Route 800 near Froman Hill Road in Fairfield Township.
The crash occurred Saturday at approximately 5:05 p.m.
A dark green 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on state Route 800 when it encountered a southbound vehicle slowing to make a right turn onto Froman Hill Road. The driver of the motorcycle swerved left of center to avoid striking the turning vehicle. The motorcycle and driver traveled off the east side of the road and struck a guardrail.
The motorcycle was operated by Jack Lineberry, 63, of New Philadelphia. Lineberry was transported by medical helicopter to Summa Health System-Akron Campus. The Summit County Coroner’s Office contacted the state patrol early Sunday morning to advise that Lineberry had died from his injuries.
Responding agencies included Mineral-Sandy EMS, Mineral City Fire Department, Smith Ambulance, MedFlight and Finlayson Towing.
According to the patrol, alcohol and drugs are a factor in the crash. Lineberry was not wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation.
