Motorcyclist killed in Strasburg crash
The motorcycle was operated by Nichole L. Vanmeter, 38, of Strasburg
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash that killed a Strasburg woman on South Wooster Avenue near Seventh Street SW in the village of Strasburg.
The crash occurred Friday at approximately 9:15 p.m.
A black 2020 Harley-Davidson Sportster Iron 883 motorcycle was traveling northwest on South Wooster Avenue. A black 2014 Toyota RAV4 was making a left turn onto South Wooster Avenue from a private driveway. The motorcycle overturned and struck the left side of the Toyota.
The motorcycle was operated by Nichole L. Vanmeter, 38, of Strasburg. Vanmeter was pronounced deceased at Mercy Hospital.
The Toyota was operated by Benjamin Cookson, 24, of Akron. Cookson sustained possible injuries.
Assisting at the scene were the Strasburg Police Department, Strasburg Fire Department and Finlayson’s Towing.
According to the patrol, impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash. Vanmeter was not wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation.
