Civil War Round Table to meet Feb. 12 at Dover Public Library
Hart portrays historical and literary characters and serves as an adjunct faculty member at Ohio universities
In celebration of President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, the Tuscarawas Valley Civil War Round Table will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in the Community Room of the Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover. The featured presenter will be living historian Chris Hart, who will present “Mr. Lincoln’s White House.”
Hart’s program is set in 1900, when President William McKinley invites President Abraham Lincoln’s former secretary, George Nicolay, to the White House. Nicolay recalls life at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. during the Lincoln years, from Inauguration Day to Mary Lincoln’s spending and the deaths of Willie Lincoln and the president.
Hart portrays historical and literary characters and serves as an adjunct faculty member at three Ohio universities. He previously worked as program development manager at Historic Roscoe Village in Coshocton and serves on the board of directors of the local Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Board. He has performed at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, Tennessee, for the National Park Service in Pennsylvania and in Gettysburg. He is a professional voice-over actor and an ordained minister.
