The Harrison Central varsity wrestling team hosted Claymont Jan. 21, continuing to navigate a rash of injuries. Claymont opened the match with forfeits at 113 and 120 pounds, giving the Huskies an early boost.
At 126, Jakob Kreptowski added points for Harrison by pinning Claymont’s Ryan Ferguson in 1:22. Claymont responded at 135 as Mitch Ady recorded a fall over Harrison’s Cameron Fulton. Later at 135, Harrison’s Brody McCabe pinned Ady in 2:15.
Rush Garabrandt earned a win by fall over Tristan Cummings, and Claymont’s Tristan Cole won by forfeit at 165. A double forfeit followed at 175.
At 190, Jaden Harris brought Harrison back on the positive side with a decision over Reese Salyers. The Huskies then forfeited at 215 and 285, and Claymont secured the dual, 48-15.
Junior high
The Harrison Central junior high team also took the mat against Claymont and earned a 9-5 win.
Claymont opened with wins at 92 and 98 as Kegain Thornton defeated Kale Sproul by default and Maxx Miles pinned Corbyn Coen.
Harrison answered with four straight victories — Lane Hibbits (104) won by fall over Brayden Watson, Rage Moreland (110) pinned Braxton Cottrell, Steven Renner (116) won by forfeit and Jordan Simpson (122) pinned Watson.
Claymont’s Ledger Bower then pinned Caden Jenkins. Harrison picked up additional points with forfeits by Landon Coffman (142), Azaria Linderman, Nelson Lan (160), Lavon Sturgeon (172) and Bentley Manbeck (205), while Claymont won by forfeit at 245.
In additional matches, Coen returned to the mat and lost to Claymont’s Kaden Weaver. Hibbits defeated Brock Decker, and Simpson defeated Dante Colaner as Harrison finished with the 9-5 victory.
