Herrell, Hammond attend BPW state board meeting
Two Coshocton Business and Professional Women members, Liz Herrell and Raine Hammond, attended the Ohio Business and Professional Women state board meeting on Aug. 23 at Maumee Bay State Park.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Jennifer McCary, chief culture and brand experience officer at the Toledo Museum of Art, where she plays a role in operationalizing the museum’s strategic plan and fostering a culture rooted in communication, collaboration, connection and accountability.
Her topic was Intentional Interventions. She discussed steps to intervening, what stops people from intervening and how to advocate for yourself at work. Members discussed four scenarios in groups and then presented their possible actions. Potential risks and consequences were then discussed by everyone.
Coshocton Business and Professional Women is open to both women and men, employed or unemployed, in the local community. Meetings are held the third Monday of the month at 6 p.m. at various locations with service projects, social activities, opportunities for civic participation, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Opportunities for engagement include local, regional and state participation in the organization.
Coshocton BPW meetings are open to the public. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Canal Lewisville Church. Tyler Maple, program speaker chair, will have a legislative program. Members are encouraged to wear wild colors or patterns in accordance with this year's theme, “We Are Wild About … Advocating, Empowering, Mentoring and Celebrating Women.”
Anyone interested in learning more about Coshocton BPW is encouraged to email Membership Chair Wendy Bowman at CoshlBPW@gmail.com. Interested individuals also may call or text VP Sheila Mayse at 740-502-3047 to receive information.
