For God was pleased to have all His fullness
dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether
things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood shed on
the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds
because of your evil behavior. But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s
physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish
and free from accusation — if you continue in your faith, established and firm,
not moved from the hope held out in the gospel.
AD
Lord Jesus, the words of the hymn are so true:
“Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe.” I thank You, Lord, for the present
reality of union with You, and I thank You that there is a past that has indeed
become the past. The words, “You once were alienated from God” (v. 21), are
true of my life; I can remember those lonely, lost, dark days. I remember the
sense of futility, lack of hope and emptiness of soul. The words “But now” (v.
22) resonate in my heart. By accepting Your work on the cross and repenting of
my sins, You have reconciled me to the Father. Lord Jesus, I want to thank You
for the present reality of Your being the center of my life. The thought of
being presented “without blemish and free from accusation” (v. 22) is almost
too much for me to comprehend, but in You I know that it is possible.
Lord Jesus, the power of choice is an awesome
responsibility. I turn to You for guidance and direction for my life. When I
face the “if” of life, I desire Your presence and direction. Lord Jesus, I
believe that You are the Way, the Truth and the Life, and that You are opening
my eyes to the true nature of all things. I cannot escape the reality of
choices, but may I not fear them; may I see them as opportunities to
demonstrate my love and loyalty to You.
