Malvern Village Council discussed village upkeep and maintenance going into the new year at its Dec. 15 meeting.
Fiscal Officer Ashley Neading reported the picnic tables funded through the Carroll County Foundation grant were delivered and assembled. They have not yet been installed in the park.
“The picnic tables are very heavy and very well-built,” said Neading. “A huge thanks to the Carroll County Foundation for the grant funds. This is really going to help our efforts in the park.”
It was confirmed salt was ordered for future winter weather and tree cutting continues in the canal area at the park.
Councilwoman Marci Hubbard commented the street department did a good job with snow removal during recent winter weather. All of council agreed and said they had heard positive comments.
Kaltenbaugh said waste pump wiring problems were temporarily repaired by Sheets Electrical with plans for a more permanent fix in better weather. One high-service pump failed and was removed by Ohio Drilling for inspection and repair.
The EPA has mandated cleaning of the village’s clear wells which had no prior records of cleaning. Council approved the services of Pittsburgh Tank to complete the work for an amount not to exceed $34,000. Kaltenbaugh said according to the EPA the cleaning is required every five years.
