Firefighters contain blaze at Ron Ruegg Automotive in Malvern
Great Trail Fire District, with mutual aid from area departments, limits fire damage to addition of repair shop.
The Great Trail Fire District responded Friday, Sept. 12, at 1:01 p.m. to a commercial structure fire at Ron Ruegg Automotive on Alliance Road in Malvern.
The 7,300-square-foot building with a 16-foot ceiling housed the vehicle repair shop.
“The shop was closed for the day and no one was in the building at the time of the fire,” said Great Trail Fire District Chief Ralph Castellucci.
Castellucci said the fire was reported when smoke was seen coming out of the garage bays. Units kept the majority of the structure loss to a 1,400-square-foot addition attached to the main structure. The fire started in a vehicle in the addition.
Units were on scene for four hours. Assistance was provided by Sandy Creek Joint Fire District, Mohawk Valley Joint Fire District, Magnolia Fire Department, Osnaburg Township Fire Department, Carrollton Fire Department and Canton Township Fire Department.
