A grand opening celebration was held for the new Allensworth’s Jewelry at 30 Public Square.

David Tinlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.O. Tinlin of Route 4, Carrollton, received Scouting’s highest award, the Eagle Scout rank.

David E. Kohler, a 1963 graduate of Carrollton High School, was working for the National Security Agency in Washington, D.C., under the University of Akron College of Engineering cooperative program.

Members of the Kilgore School basketball team, coached by Don Goodall, included Joe and Jim Nasuta, Mike Kohler, Jim Burrier, Randy Shaw, Paul Simmons and Bill Kohler.

Deb Manfull was crowned Carrollton High School’s 1976 winter sports queen.

Deb Manfull, who was crowned Carrollton High School’s 1976 winter sports queen, was also pictured in a front-page photo as Valentine queen in observance of Valentine’s Day 1976.

The 60th anniversary of Scouting was marked locally by 10 members of Boy Scout Troop 141 who took part in the morning worship service at Carrollton First United Methodist Church. They included Brian Scott, Mark Buchman, Larry Tack, Steve Logan, Jim Logan, Mark McCullough, Jim Rininger, Bob Tack, Darrell Rininger and Mark Miller.

CHS freshman Barb Toot led the Warriors, scoring 15 points against the Sandy Valley Cardinals and 12 points at Lake as the Warriors defeated Sandy Valley 43-13 and Lake 34-27.

James J. Halter was promoted to quality control supervisor at the Colfor plant in Malvern.

Carrollton first graders Stacey Hauenstein and Brecht Mullett were pictured promoting Valentine’s Day in 1986.

The Carrollton Warriors basketball team, coached by Dave Olinger, came away with a 74-61 win over Claymont, giving them a chance to qualify for Senate League play, the first in 10 years.

1995 tax collections in Carrollton hit an all-time high of $557,317.48, the highest income tax total collected since the tax was initiated in 1982.

Timothy Klotz Jr., a senior at Malvern High School, was the subject of a feature story on opening his business, Sandblasting by Tim.

Carrollton knocked home eight 3-pointers against West Branch to propel the team to a 62-53 cage win.

Clayton Burke, a Carrollton High School senior, received a free trip to Washington, D.C., by scoring high on the American Legion’s Americanism and Government test.

Jennifer Kaser was named the new owner of the Virginia Restaurant and Lounge when it was passed to her from her mother, Neal Howell, who purchased the former Virginia Theatre and restaurant 18 years earlier and turned the theater into a lounge and banquet facility.

Carrollton junior Craig Kempfer captured the championship title in the 189-pound weight class at the 16th annual Panther Wrestling Classic.

Augusta Township Trustee Calvin (Carl) Mangun was elected to the Ohio Township Association Board of Directors.

Janet Smith was elected president of the Carroll County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Other officers were Rosemary Brace, vice president; Michelle Catlett, secretary; and Lester Dodds, treasurer.

The Carrollton Lady Warriors, coached by Kyle and Jodie Poole, shared the Northeastern Buckeye Conference title with Louisville.
