Ruth E. Davis, Carroll County Extension agent from 1953 to 1960, was home economist for the Hawaiian Island Kauai.
During the past 10 years, 1954-1964, motor vehicle registrations in Carroll County increased 33.1%.
The five senior matmen on Carrollton High School’s wrestling team, coached by Rusty Bright and Ralph Lloyd, included Dave Miller, Loyal Slabaugh, Louis Pallaye, Jim Newbold and Joe Kovach.

Dr. Glenn Dowell, who served as Carroll County health commissioner from 1932 to 1965 and was known as the dean of Carroll County physicians, was succeeded by Dr. Jack Maffett, a Carrollton physician.
The four members of Malvern Boy Scout Troop 155 who received their Eagle Scout awards included Kevin Grindstaff, Darrell Rector, Scott Russell and Jeff Burwell. They were pictured with their Scoutmaster, John Campbell.
The Carrollton seventh grade basketball team came up with 17 points in the final quarter for a 41-33 win over the Lake Blue Streaks.

An article titled “Video Tape Your Christmas,” written by Roger Bartley of Minerva, then a student at VBN University School of Journalism in Virginia Beach, Virginia, was published in the December issue of The Saturday Evening Post.
Bob Main and his band were one of four bands performing for the annual Share-A-Christmas country-western benefit to provide toys, clothing and food for area families.
Karen Kirk continued to break records for Springfield High School’s gymnastics team as she smashed the school’s vault and bars records as well as the team individual total record with a 35.05.

Carroll County Commissioners Bruce Schmidt, Robert E. A. “Rock” Smith and John Davis abandoned a plan to close the courthouse one day a week due to the failure of an existing one percent sales tax at the November 1995 election that yielded approximately $1.2 million.
Sixteen years of service to Minerva came to an end Dec. 12 when Mayor James Waller presented a plaque to Richard Mount, who served as village mayor for 12 years and village council four years.
Malvern started strong and finished strong in a game against Strasburg when the Hornets came away with a 66-54 win.

Bruce Burgett of Carrollton was elected for a three-year term as director at-large on the Ohio Cattlemen’s Association Board of Directors consisting of 15 directors representing 15 districts and three at-large statewide positions.
Members of Southern Local’s Board of Education bid farewell to their superintendent with several accolades extended to Fred Burns for his four years of service.
The first trip to Carrollton High School was not a memorable experience for the Jackson Polar Bears boys basketball team when the Warriors defeated Jackson 58-45 in a tough, physical game.

A Carroll County couple, Martha and Fred Lejeune, were featured in a front-page story in the Dec. 24, 2015, FPS issue with a nativity scene including figurines presented to Fred at the age of 14 in Belgium.
Minerva Middle School students, teachers and staff were pictured wearing pink clothing, celebrating a weeklong Spirit of Giving during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Carrollton wrestler Aidan Pasiuk pinned his 170-pound West Branch opponent 22 seconds into the match to give Carrollton a 6-0 lead.
