Carrollton and Carroll County gained population since the 1960 census. According to population estimates as of July 1, 1965, Carrollton showed a gain of 132, from 2,786 in 1960 to an estimated 2,918, while Carroll County’s population climbed 778, from 20,857 in 1960 to 21,635.
Byron Barnes and Larry Karns, both juniors at Carrollton High School, were selected to attend the American Legion’s Buckeye Boys State.
Despite bitter cold, the Carrollton High School track team defeated Sandy Valley 71 1/2-47 1/2.

Diane King, a Carrollton High School senior, was the recipient of the 1976 DeFord Memorial Scholarship, while David Martin, a senior at Malvern High School, received a one-year $2,000 supplemental DeFord scholarship.

Carrollton High School basketball award winners included Jeff Lucas, Mike Henry, Bill Fiscus, Jack Cole, Barry Jacobs, Mark Householder, Eric Cole and Steve Shotwell.
Cast members for the production of “Winnie-the-Pooh” at Carrollton High School included Melodie Hilton, Fred Locker, Ray Elliott, Greg Piatt and Chris Saling.

Dale Lewis was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Melvin Rhiel on Malvern Village Council, and Jeff Crowl was elected council president.
A 540-square-foot addition, which included a new library and school office at Kilgore Elementary School, was dedicated during a program and open house.
The musical “Hello, Dolly!” was presented at Minerva High School. Cast members included Karisa Merrick, Darrin Milliken, Debbie Massay, Craig Fletcher, Jim Ickes and Marcy Ramsey.
The Sandy Valley Cardinals baseball team defeated the Malvern Hornets 18-4.

Dellroy Council welcomed Rhonda Evans as the new clerk-treasurer.
Four area ministers were appointed as law enforcement chaplains with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. They included the Rev. Fr. David Gaydosick, the Rev. Paul Camp, the Rev. Timothy Cashen and the Rev. Dale Brink, who joined the Rev. Lester Rowan, who had served as a sheriff’s chaplain for nine years.

Carrollton’s Sonta Duffy won the 110 hurdles, while Dustin Shockey won the long jump.

The Carrollton Board of Education voted 5-0 to close Kilgore Elementary School at the end of the 2005-06 school year.
Air Force Tech. Sgt. Corey Kuttie, a 1995 graduate of Carrollton High School, was named the 2005 Noncommissioned Officer of the Year for the 3rd Combat Communications Group at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City.
Carrollton senior Nick Castellucci signed a letter of intent to play football at Malone College in Canton.

Carrollton Council hired Judi Noble to assist new clerk-treasurer Darla Tipton.
Southern Local High School students Hannah Bottoms and Drew Sevek were among 34 students who took a trip to the nation’s capital.
Sara Loomis led the Malvern girls track team against East Canton with first place finishes in four events.
Carrollton junior Cole Lovett led the Warriors to a 70-54 win over West Branch, placing first in the 400, 800 and 1,600 and running a leg of the winning 4x4 relay team.
