Carrollton High School names September students of the month
Seniors Hunter Allison and Lily Marteney recognized for academics, activities and future goals at CHS
Students of the Month for September at Carrollton High School for the 2025-26 school year are Hunter Allison, son of Casey and Mike Allison of Dellroy, and Lily Marteney, daughter of Tara and Jason Marteney of Carrollton.
The following are responses to questions submitted by The Free Press Standard to each of the September students of the month.
What extracurricular activities are you involved in both in and out of school?
Hunter: Baseball, basketball, football, 4-H.
Lily: Competition dance at Misty Karlen’s Dance Studio, CHS band, danceline, chamber chorus, The 4-H Beef Club.
Do you have any special hobbies?
Hunter: Hunting, fishing, lifting.
Lily: I am a part of the Mount Pleasant youth group and choir, reading, hanging out with friends.
Where do you plan to attend college?
Hunter: Undecided
Lily: John Carroll University or Ohio University
What are your career plans?
Hunter: Attend college for pre-med and eventually become an anesthesiologist.
Lily: I am planning on being a biology pre-vet major and hope to eventually become a small-animal veterinarian.
What teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced you and why?
Hunter: My mom because of her strong work ethic.
Lily: Misty Karlen, my dance instructor, is one of the most influential people in my life. She is an incredibly hard worker, and I admire all the effort she puts into supporting me and making me a better dancer and person.
What advice can you give for success in life?
Hunter: Focus on the process, forget the outcome.
Lily: Never believe that you can’t do something.
As students of the month, both become eligible for a $500 scholarship provided by McFadden Insurance Co. to one boy and one girl at the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year. The two seniors, who are selected by the staff, will have their pictures displayed in the commons at CHS.
