Carrollton High School names February Students of the Month

As Students of the Month, both are eligible for a $500 scholarship

Carrollton High School has named Ivy Bishop and Alex Carlisle as Students of the Month for February.

Bishop is the daughter of Darren Bishop of Waynesburg. Carlisle is the son of Danene Carlisle of Dellroy.

The following are their responses to questions submitted by The Free Press Standard.

What extracurricular activities are you involved in both in and out of school?

Bishop: Volleyball and basketball; two-year National Honor Society member.

Carlisle: Basketball, track and football.

Do you have any special hobbies?

Bishop: Drawing, painting and reading.

Carlisle: Racing motocross.

Where do you plan to attend college?

Bishop: Undecided.

Carlisle: Kent State University.

What are your career plans?

Bishop: Undecided.

Carlisle: Become a commercial pilot.

What teacher, coach, family member or special friend has influenced you and why?

Bishop: “My father. He has taught me many valuable life lessons that will carry with me.”

Carlisle: “My brother has influenced me by teaching me ways to become successful and helping set up my future.”

What advice can you give for success in life?

Bishop: “Do what you love and surround yourself with people who actually support and care about you.”

Carlisle: “Be respectful and work hard.”

As Students of the Month, both are eligible for a $500 scholarship provided by McFadden Insurance Co. to one boy and one girl at the end of the 2025-26 school year. The two seniors selected by staff will have their photos displayed in the Commons at Carrollton High School.
