Carrollton community celebrates Halloween with creative costumes and family fun

Celeste Mendez wins Best in Show as local children and teens showcase spooky and imaginative outfits at annual event.

There was a good turnout at the Community Halloween Party held Oct. 27 in the Carrollton High School Commons. 

Winners in the various costume judging categories were reported as follows by Jason Eddy, CHS principal who coordinated the event. 

Celeste Mendez, dressed as a box of doughnuts, earned first place overall and was named Best in Show. Lorenzo Contreras, portraying Jigsaw, placed second, and Lily Morrow, dressed as a scarecrow, took third. 

In the age 0–3 group, winners were Callen Henry, first; Hallie Hutchison, second; and Melanie Gonzales, third. Winners in the 4–6 age group were Mendez, first; Jade Media, second; and Austin Rhoads, third. In the 7–9 category, Contreras was first, Lyla Henry second, and Reagan Miller third. 

For ages 10–12, Morrow placed first, followed by Bristol Dingess and Claire Henry in second, and Maddy Elkins in third. In the 13 and up category, winners were Kali Stutler, first; Troy Rutledge, second; and Nora and Jessie O’Keefe, third. 

Overall winners were Mendez, first; Contreras, second; and Morrow, third.
