Yan Sun to host landscape painting workshop Sept. 20
Internationally recognized artist will lead hands-on session at Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts, with proceeds supporting the center’s programs.
Yan Sun, professor emeritus at Muskingum University and an internationally acclaimed artist, will conduct a painting workshop Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts. The workshop will focus on landscape compositions created in acrylic or other water media.
“The class will guide participants through the landscape painting process and include a live demonstration using acrylic colors,” Sun said. “With a special emphasis on the emotional power of color and light, I will share insights into composition, color contrast and harmony, texture, depth and the expression of ideas. Participants may work from their own photo references or use one I have pre-selected.”
The cost of the workshop is $20, and Sun is donating all proceeds to the arts center.
The arts center is located at 461 Robinson Drive SE, New Philadelphia. Registration is available by calling 330-339-2787, and more information is online at www.tuscartcenter.org.
