Twisted Tree Books to host children’s author event
Saturday, April 11 from 1-3 p.m., local children’s author Andi Michelson will lead a story time and related activities for kids of all ages
Twisted Tree Books, owned by Brittany Renner and Trudy Lewis, officially opened last October. The independent bookstore carries both new and used books, ranging from fiction to history, romance to fantasy, best-sellers to children’s favorites, along with book-themed merchandise. Cozy seating and a children’s room make it a welcoming stop for the whole family.
The bookstore is open from 5-9 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays. Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Saturday, April 11 from 1-3 p.m., local children’s author Andi Michelson will lead a story time and related activities for kids of all ages. Her books will be available for purchase.
“Queen Bea” is a chapter book with themes of friendship, getting along with others and becoming more self-aware. During a class trip to a bee farm, the main character, Beatrice, learns how bees work together for the good of the hive. As a former beekeeper, Michelson includes information about honeybees, as well as a glossary of bee terms.
“Little Roo” is a picture book about a little rooster who is not an early bird. Its themes are perseverance and appreciating different abilities.
“Dance the Seasons” is a picture book about flora and fauna throughout the year, with each stepping forward in its own moment of glory. Fairy ballerinas demonstrate the changes through each season.
“What If…? A Worrier’s Toolkit” is a workbook for children ages 7-12 who deal with anxiety. Real-life scenarios provide opportunities to think through positive steps, giving the child a greater sense of control. The book is available in both a Christian edition and a public-school version.
