Tusky Valley Ruritan Club prepares for fall events at September meeting
Members volunteer for Sparks for Giving, plan Atwood Fall Festival food trailer and donate Rudy Bears to local fire departments
The Tusky Valley Ruritan Club met Tuesday, Sept. 9, for its monthly dinner meeting at the Warren Township Community Center in New Cumberland. Eleven members attended.
Volunteers at the center served a meatloaf dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed salad, green beans, bread and butter. Beverages included soda, iced tea, water and coffee. Desserts were cherry, apple, lemon and coconut cream pies.
Club member Amy Burrier reported that six members signed up to help set up or serve in the food tent at the upcoming Sparks for Giving event.
Jon Campbell reported he will deliver recently purchased Rudy Bears to the Bolivar Fire Department. President Randi McRobie delivered bears to the Mineral City Fire Department. The Fairfield Fire Department said it currently has enough.
The club thanked member Jim Downing for repairing a window in the Ruritan food trailer. Members also voted to put new tires on the trailer to prepare it for the upcoming Atwood Fall Festival. A volunteer signup sheet was passed around. The club will serve French bread pizzas, meatball subs, hot dogs, coneys and Swiss cheese/trail bologna sandwiches. Members will meet Oct. 1 at 2:30 p.m. to set up the tent and trailer.
The next meeting will be Oct. 21 at 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s Community Church in Mineral City.
