Tuscarawas YMCA gymnastics teams place at district meet

The Tuscarawas YMCA gymnastics teams turned in strong performances at the YMCA Gymnastics District Meet March 21-22 at Riverfront YMCA in Cuyahoga County.

The Level 6 team placed second, the Level 3 team placed fourth and the Excel Gold team placed fifth. Overall, the team brought home more than 100 ribbons, medals and trophies.

Lily Denney was named district champion on beam and floor in Level 7. Zurich Novak won district titles on beam and floor in Level 6. Avery Emler claimed the vault title in Level 4, Norah Russell earned the vault title in Excel Gold and Maisley Hupp won the floor title in Level 5.

The top all-around scorer for the Tuscarawas YMCA was Level 6 gymnast Zurich Novak with a 36.05 out of a possible 40 points. Other top all-around scorers were Auria McDaniel in Level 8, Vivian Denney in Level 7, Peyton Lewis in Excel Gold, Avery Emler in Level 4 and Maisley Hupp in Level 5.

Local gymnasts scoring 9.0 or higher were Zurich Novak on beam and floor, Maisley Hupp on beam and floor, Ari Burcher on vault and floor, Vivian Denney on floor, Teagan McDonald on floor, Avery Gause on floor, Isabelle O’Neill on floor, Avery Emler on vault and Braelynn Greenwood on vault.

Individual awards were:

Level 8

Auria McDaniel: fourth on bars, eighth on vault, floor and all-around, and ninth on beam.

Landry Little: sixth on beam, seventh on bars and 10th in all-around.

Level 7

Lily Denney: first on beam and floor, third in all-around, fourth on bars and fifth on vault.

Vivian Denney: second on floor, fifth on bars, beam and all-around, and seventh on vault.

Level 6

Zurich Novak: first on beam and floor, second in all-around, fifth on bars and sixth on vault.

Isabelle O’Neill: third on bars, fifth in all-around, sixth on beam and floor, and 11th on vault.

Avery Gause: fifth on floor, eighth on bars, 10th on vault and beam, and 11th in all-around.

Ari Burcher: third on vault, seventh on beam, 10th on floor, and 12th on bars and all-around.

Kendall Geers: fifth on vault, sixth on bars, seventh in all-around, eighth on floor and ninth on beam.

Anna Bonvechio: fifth on bars, sixth on floor, seventh in all-around, 10th on vault and 11th on beam.

Teagan McDonald: 10th on bars and floor.

Excel Gold

Peyton Lewis: fifth on bars, seventh on beam and floor, ninth in all-around and 10th on vault.

Norah Russell: first on vault, ninth on bars, floor and all-around, and 10th on beam.

Stella Noe: eighth on beam, 10th in all-around, and 11th on vault, bars and floor.

Level 4

Avery Emler: first on vault, second on bars, fourth on floor and all-around, and seventh on beam.

Ivy Lucans: seventh on bars, eighth on vault and floor, ninth in all-around and 10th on beam.

Charlee Beachy: fifth on bars, seventh on vault and beam, eighth on floor and ninth in all-around.

Cadence Schlabach: fifth on beam, eighth on bars, ninth on vault, and 10th on floor and all-around.

Level 5

Maisley Hupp: first on floor, third in all-around, fourth on beam, fifth on bars and ninth on vault.

Braelynn Greenwood: fifth on vault, sixth on beam, floor and all-around, and eighth on bars.

Sophia Olivarez: sixth on floor, seventh on vault, eighth on bars, beam and all-around.

Aleah Dixon: seventh on beam and floor, eighth in all-around, and ninth on vault and bars.

Dylann Beachy: 10th on vault and 12th on bars, beam and floor.

Gwynn Gutierrez: sixth on vault, eighth on beam, ninth on floor, and 11th on bars and all-around.

Charlotte O’Hara: 10th on vault, bars and floor, 11th on beam and 12th in all-around.
