The Tuscarawas County YMCA hosted its annual YMCA–Craig Rader Memorial Golf Outing Aug. 21 at Oak Shadows Golf Club, raising $21,506 for the Y’s Annual Campaign.

The outing is one of the Y’s two major annual fundraisers. The campaign provides financial assistance for membership and programs including preschool, summer day camp, after-school care, swim lessons, youth sports and other health and wellness opportunities for youth, families and seniors in need. The goal for the event was $20,000.

The golf outing honors the late Craig Rader, a longtime YMCA supporter, former board member and community advocate. “Craig was a wonderful person who lived the Y values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. We are immensely grateful to the Rader family for keeping Craig’s YMCA legacy alive and well,” said Jenny Dallas, executive assistant and event coordinator.

This year’s outing drew 22 teams and support from 39 companies, families and individuals. Sponsors included Denney Plastics Machining, Dover Hydraulics, Ferris Chevrolet, Howard Hanna Realty, H3D Tool Corp., W.E. Quicksall & Associates, Steve and Becky Mastin, the Rader family, Stocker Investments, Tucson Incorporated, Wendy’s and Williams Furniture.

The YMCA also thanked the many businesses and individuals who donated auction items, bid online, played in the event or volunteered.
