For those looking for tax-deductible year-end giving options or meaningful ways to honor loved ones, the Tuscarawas County Public Library System has several opportunities available.
“Giving Tuesday is a time of year when people are often looking to give in small or large ways,” said Library Director Michelle McMorrow Ramsell. “Among the many worthy causes in our community, the Tuscarawas County Public Library System offers opportunities to recognize a loved one by name.”
One option is the Bestow a Book program. With a $25 donation, the library will purchase and add a book to its collection in honor or memory of a teacher, friend, or family member. Donors can choose a subject of interest and the branch location where the book will be added. Donations for nonfiction or large print books are $35.
“A nameplate is placed in the front of the book to recognize the individual, and the library sends a letter to the honoree or their family to let them know of the gift,” Ramsell said.
Another giving opportunity is a donation to the Tuscarawas County Public Library Foundation, which allows individuals, couples or families to be recognized on the Foundation Donor Wall. Donations start at $250 for a Bronze Book, $500 for a Silver Book, and $1,000 or more for a Gold Book. The donor wall features open bronze, silver and gold books surrounding a quote by Helen Hayes: “When books are opened, we discover that we have wings.”
The foundation, established in 2019, provides a lasting source of income for future library programs and services. To learn more about the Foundation, the donor wall, or planned giving, visit tusclibrary.org/foundation.
All donations to the Tuscarawas County Public Library or the Library Foundation are 100% tax deductible and acknowledged with a letter for tax purposes.
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System includes the Main Library and Operations Center in New Philadelphia, as well as branches in Bolivar, Strasburg, Sugarcreek and Tuscarawas, plus mobile services.
