The popular Towpath Rotary Health Check event will return to the Bolivar Army Navy Saturday, Oct. 18, offering more add-on screenings than ever before.
"We are very excited to be able to offer even more add-on screenings this year, thanks to our partnership with SpringVale Health Services," said Lisa Geers, event chairperson and Towpath Rotary representative. "This has always been such a beneficial community service we’ve been able to provide at a very reasonable cost. When you compare the $55 base cost at this event to the national average of more than $400 to $500 for a base comprehensive blood profile, it is a significant benefit even for many with excellent health insurance plans."
For the second year, the Rotary Club is teaming with SpringVale to provide lab services. In addition to the standard blood profile for $55, available add-on screenings include PSA prostate cancer screening for men ages 50 and older for $15, an A1C test for diabetes for $10, a vitamin D 25-hydroxy test for $25, a vitamin B12 and folate test for $25, a thyroid panel including T3, T4 and free T4 for $25, and a ColoFIT colon cancer screening kit for $25.
"This service is not restricted to residents in the Bolivar or Zoar area. In the past, we’ve had people in attendance from as far away as Akron. All are welcome," Geers said.
Bolivar Army Navy will offer breakfast for purchase, giving attendees a chance to stay, enjoy a meal and socialize.
