NPHS Leadership Club to hold fall leaf raking Nov. 8
Students will assist seniors and residents in need with yard cleanup in New Philadelphia; registration due Nov. 4
The New Philadelphia High School OCC Leadership Club will conduct its annual Fall Leaf Raking Project Saturday, Nov. 8, to assist senior citizens and residents in need within the city.
The project, one of the club’s largest service efforts of the year, pairs groups of students — along with parents or staff members when available — with local residents who need help raking leaves. Volunteers will arrive at the scheduled time without prior contact to complete the work. The service is limited to yards located in New Philadelphia.
Residents who wish to take part must return a registration form by Tuesday, Nov. 4. Forms should be sent to: NPHS OCC Leadership Club Leaf Project, New Philadelphia High School, 343 Ray Ave. NW, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
Club advisor Justin Coughlin said the event benefits local residents and also provides students with a valuable lesson in citizenship and community service. “Through our service program we hope to instill in students the value of community service and a lesson in how to be a good citizen,” he said.
