They’re Coming to Take Me Away
Jon Baker presents I-77: Build It & They Will Come at Main Library Nov. 11
Retired journalist will trace the 1960s highway build and its impact on the valley.
The Tuscarawas County Public Library System will host Jon Baker at the Main Library on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 6 p.m., when he will share stories and photos during his presentation I-77: Build It & They Will Come. The program will detail the extension of Interstate 77 through Tuscarawas County in the 1960s.
Baker, a retired journalist, will discuss how the river was moved to make way for the highway, as well as the changes and impact the freeway brought to the Tuscarawas Valley.
“We enjoy hosting these events showcasing important local history at the library,” said Michelle McMorrow Ramsell. “We believe events like these provide a wonderful opportunity to learn something new about your community.”
To register for the event, visit tusclibrary.org and click on the event calendar, or call the Main Library at 330-364-4474. The Main Library is located at 121 Fair Ave. NW, New Philadelphia.
