Highway Patrol to operate OVI checkpoint week of Aug. 17

The Ohio State Highway Patrol announced that troopers will operate an OVI checkpoint this week to deter and intercept impaired drivers.

The county where the checkpoint will occur will be announced the day before, and the specific location will be released the morning of the checkpoint.

Officials remind drivers that if you plan to consume alcohol, designate a driver or make other travel arrangements in advance. “Don’t let another life be lost to the senseless and selfish act of getting behind the wheel impaired,” the patrol said.

Local law enforcement agencies will provide operational support for the checkpoint.
