Harmony Ringers bring holiday concert to Dover First Moravian
Handbell ensemble to perform Dec. 13, featuring carols, holiday favorites and audience participation.
Dover First Moravian Church will host the Harmony Ringers of Canton Saturday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m.
Christine Allison, who directs the group, said, “We hope to entertain a full church of music lovers looking for an unusual concert. This joyful presentation will be filled with traditional carols, holiday favorites and a chance for the audience to participate. You can expect your toes to tap and your face to smile with the lively tunes, and don’t be surprised if a few songs bring a tear to your eye.”
Allison, born in Dover and raised in Alliance, graduated from Mount Union College and has spent her career directing church music. She has been with the Ringers and Chorus for a Cause for 16 years. The proceeds of each of the group’s six yearly concerts are dedicated to a specific cause.
“We are not your ordinary church bell choir,” Allison said. “We use many different techniques and often incorporate chimes and percussion.”
Saturday’s program will feature arrangements of traditional holiday songs, including “Hark the Herald Angels Sing,” with percussion, and “Rudolph’s Christmas Overture.”
Dover First Moravian Church is located at 319 N. Walnut St.
