Letter to the Editor

Faith gathering offers hope in heavy times

More than 300 believers gathered in Tuscarawas County for a night of prayer, unity and hope in Christ.

Letter to the Editor,

It seems we’ve been living in a season heavy with sorrow—marked by tragedy after tragedy; locally, regionally, and across our nation, namely, the murder of Charlie Kirk. In moments like these, when the noise of the world grows louder and the weight of grief presses in, we’re reminded of our deep need for something eternal. Something steady. Something true.

And in the midst of that heaviness, something beautiful happened in Tuscarawas County.

On Sunday, Sept. 14, more than 300 Christians filled the Tusky Valley Performing Arts Center to pray and worship God together. This wasn’t a political rally. It wasn’t organized by one church or one denomination. It was simply the body of Christ doing what it’s supposed to do—coming together to pray.

The weight of the moment was felt in the room before a single word was spoken. The message was clear: the answer to this world’s pain, confusion, and evil is Jesus Christ. His healing grace, His redemptive love, and His unshakable hope.

Local entrepreneurs, business leaders, the county sheriff, pastors, ministry leaders, and everyday believers gathered as one family in faith. The room was filled with prayer and worship, each moment pointing toward the One who holds all things together.

One message echoed throughout the evening: “The world needs to see Jesus in you outside of the church.” Another leader reminded us that no one is too far from God’s reach—that even those who seem most lost can be transformed by His grace.

There were prayers for families, for churches, and for our nation. There were no speeches of division or political rhetoric. Just tears of sorrow and tears of joy, lifted together in a holy moment of unity.

Perhaps the most stirring declaration came near the end of the evening:“History will write of the church’s response in this hour. Go give them something to write about.”

So I challenge you—let’s be the church the world needs. Not just inside our buildings, but out in the streets, in our schools, in our businesses, in our homes. Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Now is the time.
