EAA Chapter 1077 offers introductory aviation course

The two-hour classes will be held once a week from March 31 to May 23 at the EAA Chapter headquarters

An airplane lands on the improved runway at the Wayne County Airport. The airport services thousands of flights annually and will celebrate 51 years in operation on Aug. 28.

The Experimental Aviation Association Chapter 1077 will offer an introductory aviation course for students in grades eight through 12.

The two-hour classes will be held once a week from March 31 to May 23 at the EAA Chapter headquarters at Harry Clever Airport in New Philadelphia.

The course will cover aviation-related careers, aviation history, principles of flight, airport services, flight mechanics and more. Students will participate in flight simulation and other hands-on projects.

EAA encourages students not only to consider becoming pilots but also to explore technical and other career opportunities within the aviation industry.

Upon completion of the course, students will have the opportunity to fly with an FAA-licensed pilot and chapter member in the pilot’s aircraft.

For application information, email mcim@sbcglobal.net or text 330-795-6784. Some area high school counseling offices also may have applications and brochures available upon request.

Enrollment is limited. Applications must be returned by March 24 for consideration.
