The Ohio State Highway Patrol has named Trooper Dustin Bowersock the 2025 Trooper of the Year for the New Philadelphia Patrol Post.
Selected by his peers, Bowersock was recognized for his professionalism, dedication and commitment to public service — qualities that exemplify the mission of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Bowersock, 31, of Dover, joined the patrol in 2017 as a member of the 162nd Academy Class and has served at the New Philadelphia Post throughout his career.
Before joining the patrol, Bowersock began serving in the U.S. military in 2012 and continues his service as a staff sergeant with the Army National Guard. He earned an associate degree in justice studies from Kent State University in 2016 and is a 2013 graduate of Claymont High School.
During his career, Bowersock has received multiple commendations, including the Safe Driving Award, the Health and Physical Fitness Award and several letters of commendation. He was promoted to the rank of master trooper in 2024.
“Trooper Bowersock’s unwavering dedication to his family, his community and the citizens of Ohio is commendable,” the patrol said in announcing the award. “His selection as Trooper of the Year is a testament to his exemplary service and steadfast commitment to excellence.”
Bowersock is now a contender for the District and State Trooper of the Year awards, which will be announced at a later date.
