Dover library’s Touch a Truck returns Sept. 13
The Dover Public Library will host its annual Touch a Truck event Saturday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Walnut Street in front of the library.
The street will be closed as children and families explore vehicles from the Dover Fire and Police departments, city service trucks including the electric company’s bucket truck, and equipment from Rosenberry Towing and Smith Concrete. The library car will also be on display.
This year’s event will feature special appearances by characters Mater and Lightning McQueen, along with “The Bee,” a 7-foot transformer that will dance and mingle from 10 a.m. to noon. “The Drone Guy” may capture aerial photos during the festivities.
“It’s always an exciting day for kids and parents to see all the interesting trucks,” said Jen Gardner, the library’s children’s department manager.
The Friends of the Library will provide free hot dogs, with drinks from the Dover Exchange Club. Goody bags will be available while supplies last, and families can enjoy a special truck-themed book display and craft inside the library.
