College and Career Fair connects 1,600 local students with future opportunities
Event at Kent State Tuscarawas features 63 schools, trade unions and businesses in tailgate-style format
The Tuscarawas Area Counselors' Association hosted the fifth annual Tuscarawas Valley College and Career Fair Friday, Sept. 26, at the Kent State University Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center.
This year’s fair featured a tailgate-style outdoor format and included 63 representatives from local businesses, trade unions such as electrical, carpentry and plumbing, as well as trade schools, two-year colleges and four-year universities.
More than 1,600 juniors and seniors from over 13 area high schools attended, engaging with representatives to learn about a wide range of postsecondary options. Organizers said student interest and enthusiasm were especially strong.
“The level of engagement from our students was exceptional,” a TACA representative said. “Events like this give them a chance to explore future career goals and learn about opportunities they might not have considered before.”
The event was hailed as a success, providing students with valuable connections and firsthand information to help guide their future plans. Organizers said the strong turnout underscores the community’s ongoing commitment to supporting young people as they prepare for life after high school.
