Buckeye Career Center superintendent retires – rehired
Robert Alsept, who has led the New Philadelphia-based school since 2014, briefly stepped down before being rehired by the board
Buckeye Career Center’s superintendent has retired and has been rehired.
At the Aug. 18 meeting of the Buckeye Board of Education, members accepted Robert Alsept’s resignation for State Teacher Retirement System purposes as superintendent of Buckeye Joint Vocational School, effective Aug. 29.
In a separate motion, the board employed Alsept, a retiree, to the position of superintendent effective Sept. 4, 2025.
Alsept, who resides in New Philadelphia, has been Buckeye’s superintendent since 2014.
In other action, the board:
— Approved Marissa Craig, part-time cafeteria; Trent Michelll, maintenance Class III; and Tracy Napier, assistant to the treasurer-payroll, as new hires.
— Accepted the resignation of Laramie Kimble as assistant to the treasurer.
— Approved the retirement of Gale Stull, assistant to the treasurer.
— Approved 22 Ault Education part-time career enhancement instructors and five adult education instructors.
— Accepted donations totaling $2,275.
— Approved bills.
— Set the next meeting for Sept. 16 at 7 p.m.
