Arts center sets photography, pottery workshops
Children’s classes begin the week of Feb. 23 and will be posted on the website Jan. 26
Terry Barnhill, a master photographer with more than 40 years of experience and a certified judge for the Professional Photographers of America, will lead six Saturday workshops for adults and teens at the Tuscarawas County Center for the Arts.
The first workshop, “How to Improve Your Contest Skills,” is scheduled Jan. 24 and will focus on becoming more competitive and successful in competitions. Additional workshop dates and topics include Feb. 7, “Basic Digital Camera for Beginners”; Feb. 21, “Intermediate Digital Camera”; and March 14, “Advanced Photo: How to Shoot Like a Pro.” Sessions March 28 and April 18 will focus on Photoshop and the creative process.
Each workshop costs $20 and will be held 9-11 a.m.
Melissa Gish will lead a four-week hand-building clay workshop beginning Saturday, Jan. 31, from noon to 2:30 p.m. The class will focus on creating clay objects using slab and coil construction and glazing techniques.
Dee Grossman will lead a four-week wheel-throwing pottery class beginning Saturday, Feb. 14, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. The class is open to new and advanced students, and class size is limited.
The pottery workshops cost $150, or $125 for art center members. The fee includes clay, glaze and firing.
Children’s classes begin the week of Feb. 23 and will be posted on the website Jan. 26.
