American Legion Run/Walk boosts Dover scholarships
54 racers competed at the End of Summer Celebration; proceeds fund local student awards, with participation up by 30 entrants.
The Dover American Legion Post 205 Run/Walk, held in conjunction with the city’s End of Summer Celebration, took place Aug. 31 at Dover City Park with 54 participants competing across 16 divisions.
The top three overall men’s finishers were Spencer Milburn in 22:48, Steven Simpson in 22:53 and Gavin Milburn in 23:17. The top three women were Stephanie Donley in 28:31, Katelynn Griffin in 29:58 and Haley McFarland in 30:21.
Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships for Dover-area students planning to attend college. Participation grew by 30 entrants compared with last year.
Organizers thanked 11 sponsors for their support, including Dumont’s for its special contribution.
The run/walk is expected to become an annual tradition, with plans to expand in future years. Those interested in helping with next year’s event may contact Pat Antonelli at 614-302-5715.
