Lake Township cemetery to benefit from anonymous $78,000 donation

Lake Township trustees acknowledged a donation of more than $78,000 from the Willard Miller Testamentary Trust to be used for maintenance of East Nimishillen Cemetery.

At their Jan. 12 meeting, Lake Township trustees acknowledged receipt of a financial gift from the Willard Miller Testamentary Trust. The donation of more than $78,000 will be used for maintenance of East Nimishillen Cemetery, as requested by the anonymous donor.
In other business, the board hired Bryan Birtch as a full-time road department employee. Trustees agreed to pay $23,757 to Terry’s Truck & Trailer for the buildout of a 2026 Chevrolet 3500 4x4 truck for the road department. They also approved the purchase of carbide cutting edges for the road department’s snow and ice plow trucks from Winter Equipment for $24,352.71, the first such purchase in three years.
Trustees approved the purchase of 25 Model 45 MOS 9mm Glock pistols for the Uniontown Police Department at a cost of $4,120 and agreed to trade in 20 Glock 45 9mm pistols currently owned by the department for credit toward the purchase.
The Board of Zoning Appeals was scheduled to hold a hearing Jan. 22. The Zoning Commission will meet Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the township hall.
The board approved total expenditures of $412,289.19.
Trustee Jeremy Yoder was absent.
