At their Feb. 9 meeting, Lake Township trustees scheduled a public hearing for Monday, March 9, at 4:45 p.m., immediately preceding the regular business meeting, to review Amendment 25-255, a request to rezone property on Aultman Avenue NW owned by Highland Heights School Development Company LLC.

The property is currently split-zoned General Industrial (I-2) and Medium Density Residential (R-2). The amendment would retain the split zoning but increase the area designated as industrial. The Zoning Commission recommended approval of the amendment.

In other business, the board approved an agreement with the city of Alliance for mutual aid for law enforcement. The agreement had been reviewed and approved by legal counsel.

Trustees accepted the resignation of Uniontown Police Auxiliary Officer Joseph Nelson. His last day will be Feb. 16.

The board agreed to pay $5,950 to Fallsway Equipment Co. for the purchase and installation of Whelen lighting on a township-owned pickup truck.

Among items of correspondence was a press release from the Stark County engineer’s office notifying the public of a roundabout improvement project at the intersection of State Street and Cleveland Avenue.

About 14 Scouts and their scoutmaster attended the meeting, most as part of the Citizenship in the Community merit badge. When board President John Arnold asked if any were working toward the Eagle Scout rank, most raised their hands. Arnold offered township assistance with Eagle projects.

Two residents addressed the board with complaints about a nuisance at a residence on Carl Street.

The board approved total expenditures of $95,992.98.

The meeting was streamed on Facebook Live and was open to in-person public access. The video is available on the township’s Facebook page. Although there is no public comment through the livestream, viewers with questions may submit them by email to info@laketwpstarkco.com.

The next regular meeting of the Lake Township trustees will be held Monday, Feb. 23, at 5 p.m. at Township Hall, 12360 Market Ave. North. All meetings are open to the public via livestream.
