Galentine’s Shop Hop returns to Hartville for third year
Two-day Feb. 6-7 event invites shoppers to explore 20 local businesses, dining spots and live entertainment across town
After a long stretch of gray skies and snowy Ohio weather, Hartville is offering a bright reason to trade shovels for shopping bags. On Friday, Feb. 6, and Saturday, Feb. 7, the community invites locals and visitors alike to shake off the winter blues at the third annual Galentine’s Shop Hop.
The two-day event brings friends together to explore the small businesses that give Hartville its charm. With 20 participating locations, the route stretches from Cleveland Avenue on the west, along the Maple Street corridor, through historic downtown Hartville and east to Maize Valley, making it a true hop across town.
The Shop Hop blends retail therapy with local flavor. Participants can grab made-to-order treats at Peace, Love and Little Donuts or a hot slice at A&E’s Pizza while browsing boutiques, thrift and antique shops, and specialty gift stores. Those looking for a sit-down meal can stop at Maize Valley, which will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The fun continues after shop hours, with participants encouraged to wrap up their hop at Maize Valley. The venue will host music bingo on Friday night and live music on Saturday night.
“After weeks of being cooped up inside, people are looking for a joyful way to gather,” said Megan Wise, tourism coordinator for Discover Hartville. “The Shop Hop isn’t just about shopping; it’s about the experience of spending time together and getting to know our local shopkeepers. Whether you live right down the road or are visiting Hartville for the first time, there is a warm welcome waiting for you at every stop.”
The event is open to those ages 14 and older, with no purchase required to participate. Shoppers can pick up a passport at any participating business. Visiting at least six locations enters participants into a drawing for prize baskets filled with items and gift cards from Hartville merchants, with an additional entry earned for each stop beyond the first six.
The Galentine’s Shop Hop is sponsored by Discover Hartville, Ricky & Jake’s Gift Shop and participating businesses. Hours vary by location. A full list of shops, special offers and hours is available at www.discoverhartville.com/shophop.
