At a special meeting May 27, Hartville Village Council heard a presentation from Dr. Ronald “Chip” Weisel, president of the Lake Township Chamber of Commerce, about a fund established by the chamber to assist smaller property and business owners with needed changes and improvements. Councilman Tim Hayden said the fund will help make the village’s strategic plan successful. Following discussion, council voted to contribute $10,000 to the fund.

Following discussion about an agreement with the Ohio Department of Transportation regarding a grant for Safe Routes to School, council voted to authorize Mayor Cynthia Billings to sign the agreement.

Councilman James Sullivan said council has received information from three candidates interested in filling the seat vacated by the resignation of Councilman Tom Hough. He said council will interview the candidates in executive session at a special work session before a future meeting. A decision will be announced at the regular business meeting following the work session.

The next regular meeting of Hartville Village Council was scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 8, at Village Hall, 202 W. Maple St. The meeting also will be livestreamed on Facebook. Meetings may be viewed on the Videos page of the village’s Facebook page.
