Scott Memorial United Methodist Church in Cadiz and the Harrison County Chorale are preparing for a March 29 presentation of Pepper Choplin’s “God So Loved the World.” The cantata will begin at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.

“Come and experience the most profound week in history as it unfolds through the transcendent power of song,” organizers said. “The church and the county chorale warmly invite you to join us for our upcoming Easter cantata. This performance is more than just a concert; it is a special musical journey through the sacred events of Holy Week. It is designed to stir the soul and provide a space for deep reflection.”

Beginning with the promise of John 3:16, the musical work tells the Passion story. Organizers said the theme of God’s unconditional love is highlighted in every step of Jesus’ journey, from the humble entry into Jerusalem to the walk to the cross. The performance brings the narrative to life through choral arrangements, harmonies and reflective narration that connects each musical movement.

Under the direction of Kay Sedgmer, the Harrison County Chorale includes singers from Harrison County and neighboring Tuscarawas and Jefferson counties. Organizers said members have spent weeks rehearsing for the community presentation.

Voices for the presentation include altos Deb Morgan, Samantha Farmery, Tiara Benedetto, Jayne Wallace, Jackie Williams and Cheri Harding; sopranos Natalie Pizzino, Amy Ossman, Kim Davia, Lola Nign, Jessica Carter, Emily Rogers, Kimber Rogers, Shannon Hill, Carol Chapin Porter, Lana Dunlap, Marcella Evans, Pam Hawk, Mardi Barnhart, Cindy Sutherland, Marlene Bower, Jackie Hutyera, Jody Mitchell, Nancy Sukosd, Martha Trushell and Laura Raymond; basses Roy McCann, Terry Galey, Bob Henderson, Chase Hervey, Bill Williams and Harold C. Rogers; and tenors Paul Moore, pianist; Larry Sickle, soloist; John Sukosd, Chad C. Rogers, Gary Barker, assistant director; Scott Vorhees; and Kelly Wells.

“Whether you are looking for a quiet place to reflect on the season’s meaning or seeking a way to celebrate with your friends and neighbors, this evening offers a powerful way to prepare your heart for Easter,” organizers said. “We are looking forward to sharing this sacred story with you and experiencing the hope of the season together.”

Following the performance, everyone is invited to stay for fellowship. Light snacks and drinks will be available.
