The Harrison Central theater department will present “Dancing with the Stars” Season 3 at 7 p.m. Feb. 14 in the Harrison Central Performing Arts Center. Proceeds will benefit the Harrison Central Performing Arts Program.

Nine couples will compete: Kim Burgins and Shianne Nameth; Alex Dray and Dr. D.J. Keesey; Kenny Skinner and Katie Norris; Amber Basich and Tricia Richards; Anthony Hayes and Bobbie Prevot; Kira Birney and Joyce Barr-Peters; Madison Angle and Ryan Coffman; Scott Vorhees and Donna Minor; and Garrett Bossell and Kate Fogle.

Under the direction of choreographer Jessica Bates, the couples will compete for the People’s Choice Award, based on money raised, and the Mirrorball Trophy, based on audience votes.

“Last year was so much fun. So fun that when they asked me to be a part of it again it was a no-brainer,” said Anthony Hayes, a returning performer. “What a great form of entertainment to provide for our community. There is nothing like it. I can tell you, it is a lot of hard work and it is time-consuming, but it is certainly worth it. Anytime you can be part of something to benefit the kids, it is all worth it. Sign me up.

“I would like to say that the real stars of this event are the theater staff and students who make this whole thing go. From sound, lights, back-stage, etc., these kids do it all,” Hayes said. “It is these kids and staff that truly make it into the success that it is.”

Drake Watson will return as a host for his third season and will be joined by Kate Sedgmer.

Season One Mirrorball winners were Sophie Cunningham and Dirk Harkins. The Season One People’s Choice winners were Callie Anderson and Clint Barr. Season Two People’s Choice winners were Darrin Young and Mallory Birney. Season Two Mirrorball winners were Laura and Taylor Cope.
