Trojans edge Ridgewood; River View drops two in early-season action
Newcomerstown earns tight 32–29 win as River View continues competitive stretch behind strong scoring from Brenly.
Newcomerstown earned a hard-fought basketball road victory Wednesday, Dec. 3, edging Ridgewood's varsity girls 32-29 in West Lafayette.
The Trojans were paced by the duo of Abby Fauver and Laynie Matchett, who each scored nine points, while Breann Kerr added eight in the winning effort.
Ridgewood stayed within striking distance throughout the contest behind a strong performance from Alaena Huff, who led all scorers with 11 points. Taylor Hahn chipped in eight points and Jacey Hess added five for the Generals.
River View also fell in girls varsity basketball Monday, Dec. 1. Indian Valley beat the Lady Bears 40-32.
River View’s Elaina Brenly led all scorers with 14 points. Brenly also led River View in a 54-38 loss to Licking Valley. She had 23 points, and Kortnee Mickle added 10.
