Plainfield dedicates new park pavilion honoring village and school community
Alumni, council members and residents celebrate with music, memories and community support
Plainfield School Alumni and Plainfield Village Council gathered at Plainfield Park on Oct. 5 to dedicate the new pavilion and celebrate the history and memories of Plainfield School.
The alumni committee included Carol Ringer, Mary Lou Overholt, Nancy Grewell and Bob Nelson. Plainfield Village Council members who helped were Tim and Heather Wilson, Mike Lavigne, Cali Davis, Meghan Shalosky, and Bill Addy. Mayor Donna Addy and fiscal officer Lisa Spillman also assisted.
Donations of limestone and fill dirt were received from Tim Wilson and Larry Frye. Solar lighting was donated by Carl Cognion. Labor help came from Tom Brill, Bob Nelson, Lyle McCullough and Jim Porteus.
The Plainfield United Methodist Church invited everyone to join them for Sunday services and a luncheon before the dedication. Rev. Phillip Wilden provided the opening invocation. Bobby Dotson and Jessica Dotson provided musical entertainment. Refreshments were provided by Mary Lou Overholt, Carol Ringer, Joyce Sees, Nancy Grewell and Bob Nelson.
