Coshocton Planetarium to host free Halloween-themed show

Halloween: Celestial Origin explores the astronomical roots of the holiday and the night sky’s Halloween wonders

Halloween is an astronomical holiday. Learn the history of Halloween and how it fits into the seasons as a "cross-quarter day." Find out about the Gaelic festival Samhain and how it is related to the present-day Halloween during the showing of Halloween: Celestial Origin.

In the fall many will have bonfires and roast marshmallows. Find out how this is related to bone fires. Also, explore the night sky and learn which planets, constellations and stars will be out on Halloween night. This show is appropriate for age 10 to adult.

The dates for the showing of Halloween: Celestial Origin include Monday, Oct. 20; Wednesday, Oct. 22; Thursday, Oct. 23; Tuesday, Oct. 28; and Wednesday, Oct. 29. All shows will be at 7 p.m. Reservations can be made by going to www.coshoctonplanetarium.com. All shows are free. 

The Coshocton Planetarium is located on the fourth floor of Coshocton High School. Parking is available at this level.
