Students of the Month for December at Carrollton High School are Kyleigh Adler, daughter of Jessy and Derek Lash of Carrollton, and Brayden Yingling, son of Nick and Loretta Yingling.

Adler has a sibling, Kentlee Lash, 10, a fourth grader, and Yingling has a sister, Addlyn, 15, a ninth-grade student.

When asked about extracurricular activities, Adler said she participates in mentoring, Youth to Youth, CHS Club and French Club. Yingling said he is involved in robotics, 4-H and National Honor Society.

Adler described her special hobby simply: “I crochet.” Yingling said, “I enjoy playing piano.”

On their college plans, Adler said, “I plan to attend Mount Union,” while Yingling said, “I’m planning to go to Malone University.”

Adler said she hopes to become an occupational therapist. Yingling said, “I want to study math and/or accounting.”

When discussing who has influenced them most, Adler said, “Mrs. Ruggieri has always encouraged me to be myself and try my best.” Yingling said, “My parents especially — always encouraging me and pushing me to do my best in everything I do. Also my teacher, Ms. Stacy Kohler, Robotics Coach Scott Dramble and my piano teacher, Ms. Dorothy Carl.”

On advice for success in life, Adler said, “Always do the best you can no matter what anyone says about you.” Yingling said, “You can’t expect anything to be given to you. You have to work for what you want and where you want to go.”

As Students of the Month, both become eligible for a $500 scholarship provided by McFadden Insurance Co. to one boy and one girl at the conclusion of the 2025-26 school year. The two seniors, selected by the staff, will have their pictures displayed in the Commons at CHS.
