New case filed

Jefferson Capital Systems LLC of St. Cloud, Minn., has filed a complaint against Douglas Kubankin of 2092 Canyon Rd. SE, Carrollton, seeking judgment for $20,872.04 due on a financial agreement for $23,246.50 executed April 8, 2022.

Kaleb Weller of 290 4th St. NE, Carrollton, has filed a notice of appeal complaint against Fusion Ceramics Inc. of Box 127, Carrollton, and John Logue, administrator of the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation at Columbus, regarding the decision of the Industrial Commission of June 24, 2025, and July 11, 2025, disallowing additional allowances involving a work-related injury of May 10, 2023.

Chief deputy appointed

Jonathan Kampfer has been appointed chief deputy sheriff by Carroll County Sheriff Calvin Graham.

Case reactivated

An order has been issued to reactivate the foreclosure action filed March 8, 2024, by Wilmington Savings Fund Society of Salt Lake City, Utah, vs. Stephen W. Abbot of 1223 Kennel Rd., Minerva, et al., in which the plaintiff is seeking judgment for $89,719.60 due on a promissory note for $86,700 executed May 16, 1996.

Criminal cases

The three-year probation imposed Feb. 16, 2024, has been terminated in the case of Scott Allen Locke, 38, of 105 S. Reed Ave., Apt. 2, Malvern, who was convicted of aggravated possession of drugs as successfully completed.

Probable cause has been found that Brittani R. Talarico, 34, of 2556 Howenstein Dr. SE, East Sparta, has violated a one-year probation imposed June 16, 2025, on conviction of assault; defendant released on $25,000 recognizance bond and case continued to Sept. 18 for a pretrial hearing.

Danny C. McCormick, 68, of 2726 26th St. SE, Canton, has entered a not guilty plea to an Aug. 6, 2025, indictment charging him with possession of cocaine, aggravated possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia offenses; defendant released on $20,000 recognizance bond and case continued to Sept. 18 for a pretrial.

Julie A. Rearley, 59, of 387 2nd St. NE, Carrollton, has entered a not guilty plea to an Aug. 6, 2025, indictment charging her with assault, resisting arrest and obstructing official business; defendant released on $10,000 recognizance bond and case was continued to Sept. 4 for pretrial.

Allan R. Moore, 51, of 5155 Desert Rd. SW, Carrollton, has entered a not guilty plea to an Aug. 6 indictment charging him with aggravated possession of drugs, driving under suspension and drug paraphernalia offenses; defendant released on $25,000 recognizance bond and case continued to Sept. 18 for pretrial.

Amanda A. Kirkman, 44, of 412 E. Lincoln Way, Massillon, formerly of 3445 Co. Rd. 75, Bergholz, has entered a not guilty plea to an Aug. 6 indictment charging her with aggravated possession of drugs and possession of dangerous drugs; defendant released on $25,000 recognizance bond and case continued to Sept. 18 for pretrial.

Tonya K. Foutty, 42, of 26 Gallo Rd., Carrollton, has entered a not guilty plea to an Aug. 6 indictment charging her with aggravated possession of drugs and tampering with evidence; defendant released on $25,000 recognizance bond and case continued to Sept. 18 for pretrial.

Civil action dismissed

The other civil action filed Sept. 3, 2024, by Seven Seventeen Credit Union Inc. of Warren vs. Randall J. Abel of Box 565, Malvern, has been voluntarily dismissed by the plaintiff.

Judgments granted

Minerva Area Federal Credit Union of 3570 Union Ave. SE, Minerva, has been granted judgments for $16,695.86 on Count 1, $3,532.20 on Count 2 and $30 on Count 3 in another civil action filed March 28, 2025, against Raven Marsh of 8179 Old Canal Lane NW, Malvern.

U.S. Bank National Association of Marshall, Minn., has been granted a default judgment for $53,623.84 in another civil action filed May 7, 2025, against Gordon’s Graphics Inc. of 123 S. Reed Ave., Malvern.

Petit jury to report

Members of the petit jury Nos. 1-51 have been ordered to report Sept. 16 and 17 to hear the workers’ compensation case filed July 25, 2024, by Donald L. Bishop of 1504 41st St. NW, Canton, vs. Colfor Manufacturing Inc. of 461 David Dean Dr., Minerva.
